On July 17 Friday morning at 4:40a.m. I woke up and was in labor. I woke Tommy up about the 5th contraction that I had and told him I was in labor.I was so excited I was finally going into labor!! I got up and took a shower and off we went to the hospital. We left at 6:30a.m and had to get gas in the car and pick up his sister Carrie my "duola". At this point I was having contractions every 3 minutes and was able to handle the pain just fine.
We got to the hospital at 7a.m. and into my room at 7:07 a.m. and I changed into the gown. They started hooking me up to all the monitors and i.v.'s and so far everything is going as expected. The nurse checked me and I was dilated to a 4. I was very excited because when I went to the doctor on Monday I was a fingertip not a 1 just a fingertip. Then 20 minutes later or so I was dilated to a 6. We thought oh my goodness were going to have a baby before noon. Then I looked at Carrie and said I think there is something going down my leg and she said it was probably my water that broke. So she looked and sure enough it was with some mecanioum, so she goes and gets the nurse and my water defiantley did break. After that they put the fetal monitor on the baby and everything seem to go down hill!! We were not expecting this to really happen. His heart rate started to drop so they flipped me to my side and then to my hands and knees nothing was working. They ran me down to the C-section room and I was nervous. I have watched several baby stories and have seen this a ton and the babies were always okay. So I thought my baby was going to be okay. I remember my sister-n-law Robin NICU nurse throwing the mask over my face because they had to put me under. I didn't have the epidural yet and they didn't have time to numb me because Robin put the heart doppler on my stomach to try to find a heartbeat. There was NO heartbeat so she threw that across the room and pretty much the doctor just got him out. So unfortunely after I woke up I felt everything!! And it didn't feel good!! I remember looking over at Tommy and saying "How's Cooper" I knew it wasn't good when he shook his head and said "I don't know." My heart dropped and I suddenly started to cry. The doctor came in and said that he looked good and had good color, so we were holding on to that. Tommy was able to run in and give Cooper a Priesthood Blessing. I can't even begin to explain that the power of the Priesthood is very real. I know one of the reason's that Cooper was doing so well was because of that blessing.
I felt very bad for Tommy thru out all of this because he went thru alot to! They ran me down to the C-section room and then they came and got him and as soon as he walked into the room they immediatley told him to leave. He knew that wasn't a good sign. He stepped out of the room but stood right there by the door and he heard everything. He heard his sister Robin saying it's been 2 mintues. Not knowing if it was me or Cooper not breathing. He stood there helpless! He told me that he felt feelings that he didn't even know that he had. A nurse walked out and made Tommy walk away from the door. They told him that I was okay, but didn't know about Cooper. The doctor came out and him and Tommy went into the waiting room and he was trying to explain everything to him that had happened. I was out during all of this! Which I'm grateful for. I would of freaked out if I was awake!
We thought Cooper was okay because he was doing good, and then Saturday morning Dr.Hill told us that he needed to be air-vacted to Children's Hospital. We both just cried together. We knew that Children's was a great place, but it was very scary. He had to go down to Children's because he was having seziures.
I will post pictures of our little man not to much longer!! He's defiantley our Miracle baby!! Were very grateful for our little man!!
